Time - don't be in a hurry, it may take longer than you think to find a site
Walking Boots/Wellies - an essential
Patience - some may be needed
Mobile Phone - another essential in case of an accident
Camera - for your own take on the monument
Courtesy - ask permission when necessary
Respect - don't litter, damage or take souvenirs
If you have to ask directions go to a house (preferably a farmhouse) as the occupants most likely will have lived there for generations and will have a good knowledge of local landmarks.
Warning
On the approach to many site locations you will come across 'Electric Fences' ( a thin wire about 2 feet high around the field boundary).These are erected by the farmer to restrict cattle movement and can give you a mild electric shock which is usually harmless.
To avoid this unpleasant occurrence, be mindful of their presence.
